The role and importance of “a worthy person” conception in formation of ethnos

On the 16th of November in “Noravank” foundation took place a meeting devoted to the conception of “a worthy person”. Here were briefly represented the main dominants, the formed code of honor of “a worthy person” in different civilization models. Besides the foundation’s experts in the discussion also took part the specialists invited from the Institute of oriental studies, the Institute of ethnography as well as other NAC (National academy of science) institutes in RA.
As a famous expert in the field of social-psychology Nelson Shahnazaryan pointed out that among the main elements of culture of different nations and civilizations is also included the conception of “a worthy person”, an ideal the members of the certain society are oriented to or try to be alike, which in many respects ensures the cultural commonness and the identity of ethnos and forms a unique national character. There are social-physiological mechanisms ensuring the reproduction of the new generation’s socialization by this model. When a new person is born his parents and the society as a whole try to shape his personality. Begins the process of socialization in the course of which “a worthy person” model clamed by the society is projected on a concrete child and his upbringing. Somehow or other this model is interiorized, goes inside, becomes self-conception or “I-conception”.
It is represented that today in Armenian culture, Armenian mentality is lacking the clear conception of a worthy person and it is difficult to understand the model of orientation while bringing up the 21st century Armenian. The task of researchers and analysts is to try to form the character of "the worthy Armenian”, to familiarize our society with the Armenian codified code of honor, to represent analogical historical characters. Per se to define the vector, character and rate of the development of ethnos - dynamic-advancing, conservative, degenerative.
At the first phase it is necessary to present models of different civilizations together with the ideas and characters we have to form “I-conception” on the ground of these investigations. “I conception” consists of the following component parts.
- Real I- how I see myself at present.
- Future I- how I will be in a few years.
- Ideal (dynamic) I – how I should be, how I aspire to be according to moral and other kind of standards.
- “the represented” I- the mask we wear in answer to certain situations and social expectations, etc.
The influence of ideal “I conception” on the personality’s formation is decisive when the teenager “builds” himself in compliance with any model, standard, perceived from the assortment, represented in the certain society. On the other hand “the exemplary models” can be represented not only in the form of characters but also in a codified form- describing or listing socially encouraged qualities or modes. As a result social and physiological identity of the certain ethnos (civilization) is supported – system of orientation values, ethics and morality, standards of behavior, type of interpersonal relations, professional structure, etc.
