ON THE PROBLEMS OF ARMENIANS IN JAVAKHQ

On February 18 of the current year in “Noravank” Foundation was hosted the deputy of the Georgian Parliament Hamlet Movsisyan. He represented the general situation in the country after the presidential elections and than touched upon the problems of the Armenians in Javakhq.

In particular the reporter mentioned that the policy adapted by the ruling authority of Georgia is directed to integration of ethnic minorities and the country’s social-political life as full-fledged citizens. At the same time certain conditions are made to improve the social-economic situation.

The expert foundation was especially interested in the problems the Armenians of Javakhq had and possible mechanisms of assistance to solve these problems. The speaker mentioned that the authorities and the expert community of Armenians can provide assistance to help the Armenians in Javakhq, in particular with the problems the solution of which are possible only after they have been jointly discussed by the Georgian authorities and Georgian experts basing on the interests of both of the countries and nations.

The participants expressed hopes that suchlike meetings will become traditional which will improve the extent of bilateral information distribution and promote quick reaction to the problems arisen and their solution.
