SEMINAR-DISCUSSION DEVOTED TO PROBLEMS OF CRYPTO- AND ISLAMIZED ARMENIANS

On June 2, the seminar-discussion was arranged in “Noravank” Foundation devoted to problems of crypto- and Islamized Armenians. The head of the Journalism Department of Yerevan “Caucasus Institute” Laurence Ritter, whose report was mainly based on the researches carried out on the spot (in Western Armenia), was invited as a speaker. The sociologist spoke about perhaps the most difficult part of the problem – about the limits of the formation of the groups, which were formed among converted Armenians and criteria of their setting. The report was followed by active discussion and comments of the participants. The seminar-discussion once more came to prove that the balanced and specialized approaches to the problem are acceptable for many and there is no place for ambitious and absolute estimates during the discussion of scientific issues.
