FINAL LECTURES OF THE SUMMER SCHOOL “ARMENIA AND ARMENIANCY: CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES”

On July 9, 2014 the last three lectures of the summer school “Armenia and Armeniancy: Challenges and Opportunities” took place in the Noravank Foundation.

The first lecture titled “Armenian Diaspora: Challenges and Opportunities” was presented by A. Simavoryan, Head of the Noravank Foundation’s Center for the Armenian Studies. He presented the modern challenges that the Armenian Diaspora faces in various regions around the world. A. Simavoryan then elaborated on the issue of using effectively the Diaspora’s potential, especially emphasized the scientific potential and presented the experience of other countries that have diasporas (Israel, China, Greece, etc.).

The next lecture titled “Modern Media and Information Security” was delivered by A. Zhamakochyan, Head of the Noravank Foundation’s Center for the Information Studies. The lecturer presented development patterns of the modern information media, talked about influence of information flows on human feelings and thinking, as well as the means to counter threats stemming from those.

A. Atanesyan, Chair of Applied Sociology at Yerevan State University, delivered the third lecture titled “The Issues of Social Advertising for Armed Forces.” He first presented the significance of advertising for armed forces, then made a comparative analysis of army promotional videos of several countries: Belarus, Russia, USA, Armenia and Azerbaijan. The presenter also covered the principles and methods of social advertising for armed forces.

All three lectures were followed by active questions/answers and discussions.

In conclusion, the trainees received participant certificates of the Summer School “Armenia and Armeniancy: Challenges and Opportunities.”
